POLSON — Beat poets in berets and black shirts gathered at the Poetry Café for a poetry reading on April 1. In the dimly lit café, black tablecloths covered the small tables, and audience members snapped their finger to show their appreciation for the poets and their work.
Although it looked like a beat club, the Poetry Café was actually the Linderman cafeteria. The fourth grade poets were from Tami Morrison and Brittany Simonich classroom, and the Poetry Café reading was the culmination of poetry units. Each poet amassed a poetry anthology during class time and then read at least one poem. Open mike time was available for poets who wanted to share more than one poem.
