Ronan speech, debate team takes fourth at divisional tournament

RONAN –— The Ronan Speech and Debate team participated in the 2021 Western Class A Divisional Tournament hosted virtually by Polson High School on Saturday, Jan, 23.
The results for the competition are as follows: Jaslyn Frost received first place in Humorous Interpretation of Literature. Vicente Ortega won eighth place in Humorous Interpretation of Literature. Sariel Sandoval received third place for Original Oratory. Dylan Schock was in fifth place in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Lexie Gauthier and Aaliyah Decker placed second in Policy Debate.
State Qualifiers included Emma Pierce for Dramatic Interpretation of Literature and Isaac Cantlon for Impromptu Speaking. State Alternate was awarded to Maggie Wurster for Dramatic Interpretation of Literature. The team placed fourth in the Western A Division. Whitefish was first, Columbia Falls second and Frenchtown was third.
Our next competition is the Montana Class A State Tournament, hosted virtually by Sidney High School. Competition starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, and continues through the evening of Saturday, Jan. 30.
