News from the Polson Chamber of Commerce

POLSON — The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes announced that CSKT employee and building protocols will remain in place until rescinded by the tribal council.

The CSKT Tribal Council remains vitally concerned about the public health and safety of all Flathead Indian Reservation residents and continues to emphasize the importance of masking, social distancing and hand washing as the best defense measures against the COVID-19 virus, in addition to current vaccination efforts.

Additionally, the Lake County Board of Health met for their bi-monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 16. The board determined that the State of Emergency in Lake County, due to COVID-19, will remain in effect and the mask mandate in Lake County will continue for at least another 30 days.

A special Board of Health meeting will be held in 30 days to revisit the State of Emergency and mask mandate status.

This decision was made in an attempt to maintain the recent developments in Lake County: “Presently, COVID-19 infections are trending downward, and although the science of masking is controversial, it does appear that the combination of masking, hand washing and social distancing practices has helped slow the spread of COVID-19,” the Polson Chamber of Commerce states. “Thank you, Polson.”

“Let’s please do our best to stay kind out there as we navigate our way out of this pandemic. You all have done an incredible job so far, and we truly appreciate every effort you made to keep our community safe, healthy and open for business.”
