Local artists and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes have come together for the Fourth of July weekend to host a concert to bring awareness to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People issue.
Proceeds for the event will be donated to the cause by the Snowbird Fund. The concert runs from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, July 5, at the KwaTaqNuk Casino outdoor patio. Indoor space is available if needed due to weather. A mix of bands and guest speakers will rally attention about this important issue.
Bands include Kenny Lew Lewis and Frenz with Billy Peterson, formerly of the Steve Miller Band; Linda McKenzie and Gen Huitt performing “Missing” with Kenny Lee Lewis; and local musicians will be invited into a musician jam.
A number of speakers are invited from band members, local law enforcement, tribal leaders, MMIP members along with key law enforcement dedicated to MMIP.
This is a fundraiser with a recommended donation of $20, children 12 and under are free. Donations of $100 and more are tax deductible.
