POLSON — Polson City Commissioners approved a 5 percent across-the-board increase for golf fees at the Polson Bay Golf Course.
Golf Board President Dave Sheesley said that correlates to about a $20 to $25 increase depending on which pass is purchased. The funds are needed to offset the cost of fuel and fertilizer at the golf course.
Polson City Commissioners voted down a request by the North Lake County Public Library to waive water and sewer charges for the library at the Sept. 19 meeting. Due to a scheduling conflict, no members of the library board or staff were present and had asked to have the issue postponed until the next meeting.
Commissioner Mike Lies, chairing the meeting in Mayor Pat DeVries’ absence, said, “… The city has given the library a very fair settlement on the funds we paid to keep them going for six months. I don’t think we need to waive the water and sewer.”
In other business, the commissioners approved a request for a three-year extension of preliminary plat approval for a three-lot subdivision for Dan Jury. The extension runs from Oct. 17 to Oct. 17, 2014.
They also approved the August cash report and donated two season golf passes to the Polson Elks for their regional scholarship.
During public comment on non-agenda items, Polson City Attorney James Raymond congratulated Polson City Treasurer Bonnie Manicke on maintaining her Certified Public Finance Administrator certification.
Also a letter from the Montana Board of Crime Control noted that retiring Polson Police Chief Doug Chase was selected as one of the two 2011 lifetime achievement awardees.
The next city commissioners meeting is scheduled for Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at Polson City Hall.
