POLSON — A hometown crowd cheered the Polson Pirates to a definitive 35-0 victory Friday night over the Columbia Falls Wildcats.

“(This game was a) great way to start the conference season,” head coach Scott Wilson said.

The Pirate offense compiled 277 yards on the ground and 175 through the air, while the defense held Columbia Falls to minus-21 yards rushing.

Eric Williamson tallied eight tackles and two sacks, while Beau Mills had seven tackles and a forced fumble. Cedrick Smith and Taylor Pitts each added four tackles and an interception.

Quarterback Andrew Weltz went 7–13–175 with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Fullback Colton Lenz had 23 rushes for 162 yards and a touchdown, and wide receiver Jared Gallatin caught one ball for 31 yards and a touchdown.

The Pirates are now 1-0 in conference, as are the Whitefish Bulldogs, who will come to Polson for the homecoming game Friday.
