ARLEE — The Arlee Community Development Corporation has received picnic tables and benches for its “Garden for Life” community garden. The tables and benches were funded by a Community Challenge Grant from AARP Livable Communities and AARP Montana. The grant program is part of the nationwide AARP Livable Communities initiative, which helps cities, towns, and rural areas become better places to live for residents of all ages.
“We’re so happy to have these tables and benches that allow community members to have a new outdoor gathering place,” said Shelly Fyant, Food Sovereignty Chair for the Arlee CDC. “The garden is a beautiful spot and we want people to be able to enjoy it. We’re also hoping that more people will see that the garden is a wonderful resource providing fresh produce to area residents, and become motivated to get involved in the project.”
The Arlee CDC is looking for volunteers to help assemble the tables and benches and set them up at the garden. Interested volunteers can come to the garden on Powwow Road on Friday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m.
The Arlee CDC is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting with programs and projects that are beneficial socially, physically, economically, and culturally to the residents of Arlee and the Jocko Valley.
