CHARLO — It was a night full of good luck for the Vikings football team despite superstitions of the date. On Friday, Oct. 13, the Vikings outscored their Plains opponent 50-6 on the gridiron.

One bystander said: “Looks like they scared the game out of them.”

“It’s senior night so we are trying to get all the seniors a touchdown tonight,” said Vikings head coach Reese Cox.

Reflecting on the season so far, Cox said: “We had a slow start with a lot of injuries as we were starting out, and we had some other issues related to school, but once midterms hit, we got over those hurdles. I think our season has really started to take off.”

The Vikings only have a few games left with a 5-3 win-loss ratio. The coach said two of those three losses were only by a few points. He recognized the hard work his team has put in this year. Titan Inman, he said, has been especially dependable as he hasn’t missed one day of practice all season and hasn’t missed any school for the last four years.

Inman responded to the praise by saying: “We are ready, and we are coming, and we will do what Vikings do.”

Jacob Tomlin was also recognized by coach Cox. “He’s a player I use a lot to go and score the touchdown, and I can always be sure he’s going to put his full effort into the play.”

Tomlin, who could be seen running the ball on many occasions during the Oct. 13 game, said, “I am just happy to play, and I just do my best so I can make my team proud and support all my fellow players who are trying to get the win. If I am doing good, I just hope it makes my team look good.”

Couch Cox concluded by thanking the seniors and their families. “I want to thank all my seniors for playing a great game and just being a good group of boys to coach and work with.”
