RONAN — Shopping can be exhausting, exhilarating or frustrating, depending on one’s idea of fun. To make sure the experience is more than just another typical day at the mall, local entrepreneur Traci Johnson is hosting the first annual Winter Market at the Sky Ridge Ranch in Ronan on Dec. 1. The market will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and during the day musicians will provide entertainment.

The Winter Market will include a wide array of vendors with clothing, crafts, jewelry, baked goods, furniture and much more, in a cozy, inviting atmosphere, far from the maddening crowds. “We are excited to have this chance to host the Winter Market and to provide a venue for local artists and crafts people,” Johnson said.

Sky Ridge Ranch is located east of Ronan on Timberlane Road. The facility has a large barn and is becoming a popular location for weddings, reunions and other gatherings.

Over Memorial Day, Johnson hosted a fundraiser in support of the Marine Corps League at the ranch. That event had a great response and was the first major project at the facility. “It was fun and people were so supportive,” Johnson said.

The Winter Market is a benefit in support of SAFE Harbor. All proceeds will stay in the area and support the work of SAFE Harbor on behalf of the homeless and those dealing with domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking.

“It is wonderful to have the support of the community and we are so pleased that Traci has decided to share her facility for the benefit of SAFE Harbor,” said DeeAnn Richardson, SAFE Harbor Executive Director. She added that last year SAFE Harbor served more than 300 clients including over 70 at its transitional house for the homeless. SAFE Harbor provided over 4,600 shelter nights and assisted with transportation and other support services.

“As a small non-profit we are always seeking ways to generate new revenue streams,” Richardson explained. “Every dollar really does make a difference in helping us to continue to provide services to those in need.”

The vendors’ list for the Winter Market has been growing every day, but some table space is still available.

“We have so many different vendors and types of goods,” Johnson said. “I’m very excited about the vintage, reclaimed, repurposed and re-invented treasures that will be on sale.”
