POLSON — In a game that was all about defense, the Polson Pirates triumphed over the visiting Belgrade Panthers, 9-0.
Will Davey caught a 24-yard pass from Brady Hislop for a touchdown, and Taylor Pitts sacked the Panther quarterback in the end zone for a safety.
The Pirate defense was led by Beau Mills with 10 tackles, Davey with seven tackles and an interception; Pitts with five tackles and a safety; and Colton Lenz with four tackles and a fumble recovery. Eric Williamson and Riley Sampson added five tackles and one sack each.
“The defense played a great game. Offensively we struggled early but played better in the second half,” Pirate head coach Scott Wilson said. “The offensive line overcame a lot of adversity in the game with multiple different players seeing some playing time.”
The Pirate football squad travels to Hamilton to take on the Broncs on Friday.
