EVARO — According to Rob McDonald, spokesman for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes, tribal authorities are still investigating a robbery that occurred at the Gray Wolf Peak Casino on May 7 just before 1:30 a.m.

A man wearing a black ski mask was captured on video surveillance robbing one of the casino’s cashiers at gunpoint. The thief is described as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, between 140 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans and gloves the night of the robbery.

Authorities haven’t reported the amount of money taken from the casino. According to McDonald the total amount missing is part of the ongoing investigation. The Missoula County Sheriff’s Department and CSKT law enforcement are investigating the incident.

According to casino manager Forrest Lester, Missoula County and tribal police have increased patrols near the facility. Lester added that the casino has also implemented recommendations from the two agencies to increase security by enhancing lighting and improving security staff placement, interaction and awareness.

Lester said that though they never recommend staff members confront an armed robber, they do teach train them to notice details such as gender, height, physical features and clothing.

S&K gaming, which operates Gray Wolf Peak Casino, is offering a $2,500 cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
