KALISPELL - The Pirates came up just short of victory Tuesday in Kallispell, taking a lead into the final matchup against Flathead only to fall to the Braves, 37-34.
Polson led 34-19 heading into the final matchup, a 152-pound bout between the Pirates’ Mike Devlin and Flathead’s Steel Hahn. Both teams knew that Polson would forfeit the 160 and 171-pound weights, meaning a win by decision would lead to a Polson victory in the dual while a major decision or pin by Hahn would give the victory to Flathead.
In the end, it was the Braves who got the win as Hahn was able to pin Devlin in 3:22 to secure the victory.
Polson actually came away with wins in four of the 10 weight classes that produced matchups, including earning three pins and a major decision.
Craig Fesitner, Jacob Young and Alex Nystrom all picked up pins for the Pirates while Jose Quinones won his bout at 135 pounds via n 18-4 major decision.
The Pirates will be off until Jan. 6, when they will resume district action with a home dual against Libby.
