The Polson Lady Pirate softball team had another winning week, bringing their record to 8-1 overall, 4-0 in conference on the season.

At Hamilton on Thursday, Polson shut down Hamilton 11-0, ending the game after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Shalaina Duford pitched a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. Lead-off hitter Jaylin Kenney was 3 for 3 at the plate, and Jessica Bagnell and Heidi Rausch each had two-run home runs.

Saturday at Whitefish, Duford pitched a no-hit shutout as well as hitting a grand slam in Polson’s 13-run second inning. The Lady Pirates added 12 more runs in the third inning, putting the game out of reach for the Lady Bulldogs. Third baseman Martina Marquardt scored all six times at bat, and Polson won 32-0, with the mercy rule invoked after five innings.

Polson plays in the Frenchtown Invitational tourney this weekend, with their next home game April 30 at 6 p.m. against Kalispell Glacier.
