RSI boys 2nd at Seeley meet

RONAN — Ronan-St. Ignatius track and field athletes ran fast and threw hard at the Seeley Swan Invite Saturday.
The boys came in second behind Charlo, with Jalen Bell placing in all three jumps, winning the long and triple, Lucas Gerhardt placing in javelin and winning the shot put, and Paden Alexander winning the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs.
“Ryce Hegwood and Kyle Lawson also had good jumps in the long jump,” according to coach Crystal Pitts.
The sprint relay of Connor Benn, Jalen Bell, Nikko Alexander and Barret Sargent had a solid race with a time of 46.9, and the 1,600-meter relay team of Connor Benn, Ryan Talsma, Robbie Hocker and Paden Alexander ran their best time of the season. Nikko also had solid throws in the shot put and javelin.
On the girls’ side, several athletes improved their marks, while Aspen Jore took third in javelin and fourth in shot put. Both relay teams ran their best of the season.
Ronan-St. Ignatius will compete at the District 6-B meet at Big Sky High School in Missoula Friday and Saturday.
