Seven graduating seniors are the beneficiaries of $3,500 in scholarships from St. Luke Community Healthcare of Ronan. Two of the recipients are graduates of Arlee and Charlo High Schools. Two of the scholarship winners will be graduating from Polson High School and two from Ronan. The seventh recipient will be graduated from the Mission Valley Christian Academy.

Joseph Dresen is one of the two Ronan High School graduates receiving a Rosemary Miller Memorial Scholarship from St. Luke. The 17-year-old musician is the son of John and Tamara Dresen of Ronan. Participating in the all-state band this past October confirmed Dresen’s desire to go to college to become a music teacher with a goal of keeping music performances alive in schools.

The Charlo High School graduating senior receiving a $500 St. Luke Scholarship is Trinda Foust. This 18-year-old National Honor Society member is the daughter of Ernest and Kristi Foust of Moiese. After attending a MedStart summer camp, Foust determined that she wanted to become a registered nurse and plans to attend Missoula College in the fall to pursue an associate of science nursing degree.

The second Ronan High School Rosemary Miller Memorial Scholarship winner is Shayne Friesen, the 17-year-old daughter of Lane and Tiffanie Friesen. Friesen’s positive experience as the result of a massage therapist eliminating a neck pain that she had endured convinced her that massage therapy should be a career path for her.

One of the two $500 winners of a St. Luke scholarship from Polson High School is James Larson. The 18-year-old son of Tom and Lauren Lipko is a member of the National Honor Society and captain of the PHS Soccer Team. Larson is keeping his options open for career choices, be it a lawyer, educator, physician or engineer.

Albert Plant III is the Arlee High School graduate who will benefit from a 2012 Rosemary Miller Memorial Scholarship. He is the 18-year-old son of Albert Jr. and Aileen Plant. Active in many sports, Plant has been chosen two consecutive years as a member of the First Team Montana All-State Lacrosse Team. He plans to attend the University of Great Falls to take pre-medicine classes.

A second Polson High School scholarship award winner is Heidi Rausch. The 18-year-old daughter of Dr. Dan and Katrina Rausch says that she knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. She will be attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz., in the fall to study pre-medicine with a goal of becoming an orthopedic surgeon working with athletes.

Ryan Windauer is the 2013 Rosemary Miller Memorial Scholarship winner from the Mission Valley Christian Academy. The 17-year-old son of Dr. Michael and Jodi Windauer placed first in his age group in the inaugural Polson Triathlon last summer. He plans to attend Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash., studying pre-medicine with a goal of become a physician’s assistant.

Shane Roberts, CEO at St. Luke Community Healthcare, says, “We’re proud of all seven recipients of the Rosemary Miller Memorial Scholarship. It’s a real pleasure to be able to give back to the community helping young people reach goals that they have set for themselves.”

Each year, St. Luke Community Healthcare offers seven scholarships of $500 each. Students from each of the six high schools in Lake County and from Hot Springs are encouraged to submit scholarship applications.
