POLSON — No sooner had Polson High School seniors graduated on June 1 than the Polson Graduation Matters team gathered to start planning next year’s strategy.
Graduation Matters is a program supported by
Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau to help boost Montana’s less-than-stellar graduation rates.
The Graduation Matters website, graduationmatters.mt.gov, said Juneau supports the implementation of locally-designed Graduation Matters initiatives that engage schools, communities, businesses and families in a focused effort to increase the number of students who graduate prepared for college and careers.
The team is busy sharing the message about Graduation Matters with a summer schedule including an audience with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Council, speaking to service groups, the Polson Chamber of Commerce, the Polson Business Community and other business people.
Although it’s still in the planning stage, they also plan a Graduation Matters kick-off on Sept. 6 with the entire district gathering at the stadium, complete with the PHS band, the cheerleaders, speakers, students signing class banners and popsicles for everybody.
