PABLO — Tribal Wildlife Management Program reports a good community turn out to celebrate the Community International Migratory Bird Day Festival held Thursday, May 23 at Salish Kootenai College’s Joe McDonald Fitness Center. There was a steady stream of children and adults all evening. Thirteen presenters and vendors set up educational and information tables. The event also included bird films at the Arlee-Charlo Theater on the SKC campus.

The 3rd-grade art posters were showcased with class winners noted. Those posters were coupled with informative bird posters about the species drawn on their posters. Anna Schiele won the People’s Choice award for her poster.Students who attended the Bird Day Festival were photographed with their poster.

“We were delighted by the community turnout and support we received for the event and we want to thank all of the people who joined us at this year’s Community Bird Festival,” Whisper Camel Means, one of the event organizers, said.

“The event was intended to create community understanding and enthusiasm for migratory birds, according to Janene Lichtenberg, another event organizer. “This event clearly shows that family- oriented events such as this one are a great way of sharing information and bring people together.”

The event organizers would like to thank all of the participants as well as those who attended the Community Bird Day Festival. For a complete list of poster contest winners contact Steph Gillin at (406) 883-2888 or stephg@cskt.org
