POLSON — Bugs Bunny or Lounge Lizard were the sires of most of the bareback and saddle broncs the Big Circle Rodeo Company brought to Polson for the Mission Mountain NRA Rodeo on June 28 and 29. And, no, they are not cartoons.

The Big Circle bucking horses also are mostly all paints, roans and buckskins.

Sparkey Dreesen and Paul Eiker are partners in the Big Circle Rodeo Company, and they also own the pro-rodeo stock company J Bar J. They didn’t really plan to have paints and roans.

“It just kind of worked out that way,” Dreesen said. “You know, it don’t hurt to have them have color. People like to look at pretty horses.”

Dreesen didn’t grow up in the rodeo business, but he saw the 1973 documentary, “The Great American Cowboy,” and that got him interested. He’s supplied rodeo stock since the early 80s. With J Bar J, Dreesen and Eiker go to rodeos, such as the Houston Fat Stock Show, all winter long.

The Big Circle horses, bulls, steers and calves gave NRA cowboys all they could handle at the Mission Mountain Rodeo.
