RONAN — As The Bread Basket food bank begins fundraising during the month of July, there continues to be a real need in the Ronan, Pablo, Charlo and Moiese communities the bank serves. Currently, The Bread Basket feeds 200 families per month. Thanks to strong support from caring neighbors throughout the year, the Bread Basket has been able to provide food for these families three to four times per month. However, at times the food bank has not been able to provide milk, an important staple for most people, but especially for children.

Because of this, The Bread Basket has started a newly designated milk fund. Anyone can give a tax-deductible, one-time contribution or pledge a given amount each month to help provide milk to families.

In addition, the general fund still needs community support via donations and pledges to keep the food bank supporting these communities. The general fund provides monies to purchase food staples when needed; often local grocery stores contribute as well.

Other ways to help include volunteering time at the food bank and bringing in canned and/or dry foods to stock the shelves.

All help, financial or physical, is always welcome and appreciated.
