Obituary

Alice Kerr

Alice Kerr, age 92, of Hayden, Idaho passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2013 surrounded by her family. Alice was born May 30, 1921 in Zillah, Washington to Albert and Bertha Van Klinken. She married Wilbert Kerr in 1939 and they spent many years farming in the Yakima Valley and later worked together in many different independent ventures in Eastern Washington, North Idaho and Western Montana. She became will known for her home cooking skills.

They were blessed with two children, Delbert L. Kerr (Betty) of Hayden, Idaho and Bernice D. Brockmann (Bob) of Tumwater, Wash. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert, and two brothers, John Van Klinken and Albert Van Klinken.

After the death of her husband, Alice lived in Spokane and then North Idaho. For more than ten years she was cared for by “Harriet,” who became and remained her very good friend and companion. Alice spent the last three years at Wellspring Meadows Assisted Living in Hayden and that became home to her.

Alice was a member of the Hayden Seventh Day Adventist Church and was known as a strong Christian woman. She will be missed by all who were close to her. The family would like to thank Wellspring Meadows staff for their excellent care of our mother.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at the Hayden Seventh Day Adventist Church with Yates Funeral Home in care of the arrangements. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery. You may visit Alice’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
