POLSON — Chili-lovers get ready because the Rotary Festival for Youth’s chili-cook off is scheduled for Aug. 24 in Riverside Park.

Camp stoves will fire up at 8 p.m. so chili chefs and their teams can begin cooking.

Tasting and judging begins at noon, and the public can buy tasting kits and vote for their favorite chili.

“Mega Karma” will entertain the crowd, and kids games and face painting will be available for the younger set.

In addition to good chili, Polson Rotary will be raffling off $1,000 cash, $1,000 gas card, $1,000 in groceries, $1,000 in cut and wrapped beef, two golf passes to the Polson Bay Golf Club, and a selection of wine valued at least $1,000. Tickets are $25 each or five for $100, according to Jared Shew, Polson Rotary chair of the event and president of First Interstate Bank.

“It’s all in good fun,” Shew said.

Shew added that Polson Rotary has chosen the Polson Softball Association Boosters to benefit from this year’s Festival for Youth. Funds will go towards lights for the softball fields, a new drainage system and an improved parking lot. The softball complex will look great when Polson High School hosts the Montana High School Association State Softball Tournament in 2014.
