News from CSKT Division of Fire

MISSION VALLEY — The Division of Tribal Fire battled three fires over the weekend.

The Big Pine Fire was contained and under daily patrol. It was caused by lightning in the Hell Roaring area six miles east of Ronan.

The Station Fire was caused by lightning in the Boulder area, 20 miles east of Polson. The fire was attacked by two helicopters and declared out.

The Nenemay Fire began at 11:30 on Aug. 18. The eight-acre blaze was being fought by 35 firefighters, one helicopter, two engines, and two skidgines. The fire was not contained or controlled and its cause is under investigation. The Flathead Reservation remains under stage 1 Fire Restriction due to hot, dry weather conditions. The public is cautioned to make sure campfires are “dead out.”
