News from the Flathead Reservation Human Rights Coalition
ST. IGNATIUS — The FRHRC has released the following schedule of events to take place at Mission Valley United Methodist Church located at 70715 Highway 93 (top of Post Creek Hill).
These videos are narrated by Dan Decker, Tribal Attorney, and will be a good learning experience for those seeking knowledge on Native American issues.
These are a series entitled “Stories From a Nation Within.”
• Wednesday, Aug. 28: Potluck at 6 p.m., movie: “Allotment and Homesteading”
• Wednesday, Oct: 2: Potluck at 6 p.m., two movies: “Tribal Sovereignty” and “Contemporary Tribal Government”
• Wednesday, Oct. 16: Potluck at 6 p.m., movie: “Water Rights”
• Wednesday, Oct. 30: Potluck at 6 p.m., movie: “Iron Jawed Angels; How women got the Vote” (Hollywood style, graphic scenes of punishment, teens+)
• “Eliminating White Racism” class: TBA. If you’re interested in taking this class, there may be a fee. Call (406) 745-4259 to express interest in attending. Grant writing is in process.
Our plan is to have a knowledgeable facilitator for the discussion following each film.
