POLSON — “Kage the Kitties” is the theme of Polson High School’s homecoming this year as the school gears up for a weekend of fun and sports. PHS Lady Pirates soccer team takes on Columbia Falls Wildkats, Thursday, Sept. 30 at 5 p.m., and the Lady Pirates volleyball team also will be pitted against C. Falls in matches at 4:15, 5:30 and 7 p.m. at Linderman Gym on Sept. 30. The last homecoming sporting event will see the C. Falls Wildcats challenge the Polson Pirates on the gridiron on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in Pirate Stadium.

• Dress-up school spirit activities for students during homecoming week include:

• Monday, Sept. 27, Pajama Day

• Tuesday, Sept. 28, Twin Day/Celebrity Day

• Wednesday, Sept. 29,  Gender Bender/80’s Day

• Thursday, Sept. 30, Color Wars — Freshmen wear yellow, sophomores green, juniors red and seniors blue

• Friday, Oct. 1, Purple and Gold Day

Classes will be competing against each other in spirit wall and spirit sheet decorating contests as well as floats for the homecoming parade.

The homecoming pep assembly will be held on the football field, weather permitting, on Thursday, Sept. 30 from 2:20 to 3:25 p.m. If the weather’s bad, the pep rally will move into the gymnasium. On Friday, Oct. 1, the homecoming assembly will begin at 1 p.m. and last until 2:15 p.m. with the parade beginning at 2:30 near PHS and Polson Middle School. Floats and royalty should reach Cherry Valley by 2:45 p.m. and Linderman at 3:05 p.m.

Hungry Pirate and Wildcat fans can attend a tailgate party sponsored by the Polson Wrestling Club as a fundraiser. Cost for the tailgate is $5 for an individual or $20 for a family.

Homecoming queen and king will be crowned at halftime of football game. The final PHS homecoming event will be the homecoming dance on Oct. 1 from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. following the game. PHS’s own Nation Garza will serve as DJ, and only PHS students may attend the dance.
