All the sectionals have competed, and it’s official — five local youths will be traveling to Seattle to compete regionally in the NFL Team Championship of the Punt, Pass and Kick competition.

They will join four other youths from Western Montana who qualified to compete on Sunday, Dec. 1, with an awards luncheon and halftime exhibition as part of the Seahawks vs. New Orleans Saints NFL game on Monday night, Dec. 2.

Izabel Evans, 7, of St Ignatius joins four competitors from Ronan: Chloe Davis, 8, Eric Dolence, 11, Zeke Misa, 13, and Micalaan McCrea, 14.

The four qualifiers from Ronan are believed to be the most ever from a single Montana town to advance to the NFL regional level.

McCrea will be not only competing in her third Seattle competition, but will be vying for her third Team Champion designation.

The Seattle Seahawks’ region includes all of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington, plus Western Montana. The Montana youngsters had to win not only their respective local PPK competition and the western Montana sectional event, held in Missoula on Oct. 6, but also be among the top four of the 14 sectional age-group winners in the Seahawks’ region. Four other central and eastern Montana youngsters qualified to compete in the Denver NFL Team Championship, making a total of 13 Montana qualifiers in 2013. The nine from western MT are the most ever to qualify for the Seattle event.

To advance to the national PPK championship in January, the youths competing in Seattle or Denver must win that event and be one of the top four scorers among all other regional winners representing each of the 32 NFL teams throughout the country. Montana has produced five national finalists and two national champions over the last twelve years.
