News from Big Productions

RONAN — Big Productions, a fundraising venture of the Lake County Youth Home, is gearing up for the second concert in the 2013-2014 season featuring guitarist Chris Proctor.

Proctor’s performance will be Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ronan Performing Arts Center in the Ronan Middle School complex.  The concert is co-sponsored by Bob and Betty Moore of Polson.

Proctor is known around the western world as one of the modern masters of fingerstyle guitar, and is at the forefront of contemporary steel-string guitar. Since winning the National Fingerstyle Guitar competition, he has toured constantly in North America and Europe, releasing a steady stream of recordings of his compositions and arrangements.

He has appeared on two popular Windham Hill Guitar Samplers and was senior clinician for Taylor Guitars for more than twenty years.

Chris’s warm stage presence and sense of humor, his 12-string and slide work, his adventurous six-string techniques and tunings, his stunning original guitar pieces and arrangements, and his pioneering use of the electronic guitar bow have all made him a favorite with guitar fans everywhere. This will be his first Mission Valley area concert appearance since 2009.

Tickets are available in Ronan at Hanson & Granley True Value and in Polson at Shannon Nunlist Physical Therapy or The Terrace Flowers and Gifts.  In St. Ignatius, contact Suzie at Mission Valley Properties.  As has been the custom with the Big Productions series, a variety of ticket choices are available. Single tickets are $12 in advance and $14 at the door.  Advance tickets can also be ordered for pick up at the concert.  Call 676-2427 or email brit_gardner@hotmail.com.  All youth under 18 are admitted free, however children under 12 must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

The Big Productions series is the largest rural concert series in Montana, but it would not happen without its loyal sponsors. Access Montana, Ronan Harvest Foods, H&R Block in Polson, Jim and Cindy Willis, Don Aadsen Ford, Super 1 Foods, and Anderson Broadcasting make the series possible.

With the passing of long-time concert coordinator Chas Cantlon, a committee has been formed to continue the series.  Anyone interested in joining the committee is invited to contact Trish Rodrique: trishandmike55@gmail.com.
