RONAN — Well, now that Thanksgiving is over, we are fast on our way to Christmas and the end of the year. I hope that 2014 goes slower and isn’t in such a rush to get over with like 2013.

We are having a Safe Driver Course (formally 55 Alive class) here on

Thursday, Dec. 5. There is still time to sign up. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Most auto insurance companies give you a break on your insurance if you take this class. It is open to the public and will start at 9 a.m.

This Friday, Dec. 6, is our November birthday dinner. We will be serving a great roast beef dinner, and the cost is only $4 if you are 60 years or older. The meal starts at noon, but come early to enjoy music and fellowship.

The 4-H bazaar is this weekend at the Community Center and both the COA and the senior center will be selling raffle tickets. The COA is selling tickets for a 47-inch TV, a quilt, a ceramic goose and smaller items. The center will be there to raffle off our gift baskets. This is one of the manyfundraisers that we must have each year to keep our programs open. Donations to these program are always much needed and greatly appreciated.

Our monthly evening meal is at 5 pm, on Thursday, Dec. 12. We will be serving a great chicken dinner this month and the cost is only $5 per person. As with all of our functions, this is open to the public.

Cards will be played here on Monday, Dec. 16, at 1:30 p.m. The foot clinic will be here on Wednesday, Dec. 18, starting at 10 a.m. Call and let us know if you want your name on the list.

Our Christmas dinner will be on Wednesday, Dec. 18, and we will serve ham.

The center will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Christmas Day. We will we open again on Friday and that will be our December birthday dinner.

We have our craft and painting sessions on Wednesday following the noon meal. We also have bingo on Fridays if we have enough players.

Some of our members are either in the hospital or home sick and we wish them all a speedy recovery.

Have a great week and remember the weather we are having now is the weather we wished for last summer.
