POLSON — An accident in front of McDonald’s on Highway 93 slowed both lanes of traffic at about 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 16.
A 1995 red Ford van pulled out of McDonald’s onto Hwy. 93 to head south, and was stuck by a champagne colored Buick driving north on Hwy. 93. No one was seriously injured in either vehicle.
The van was driven by a minor female with another minor female as a passenger. Both girls were transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center. John Campbell was driving the Buick and was not injured. Polson Police Civilian Assistant Brian Kunz said citations would be issued as soon as he finishes his investigation. Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash Kunz said, although he believes both vehicles were a total loss.
The wreck was a “t-bone” or side impact crash, one of the most serious types of crashes, Kunz said, because most safety features in cars are designed for forward crashes.
Police said both drivers were wearing seat belts.
