Bigfork, Florence muzzle Bulldog teams

ST. IGNATIUS — The Bulldogs lost a 10-point lead in the first quarter against Florence Jan. 28 at home to lose 54-44. The Falcons crept back in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 13-6 to enter the second half of the game 22-25. The Bulldogs were again outscored in the remaining quarters of the game 16-9 and 16-10.

Bulldog Stuart Grant scored 15 points, with nine in the third quarter. Nikko Alexander tallied 12.

Florence’s Ryne Baerlocher sank 22 points.

On Jan. 26, the Bulldogs lost to fifth-ranked Bigfork 63-37. Austin Jordt and Ian Lorang who scored 17 points apiece, carried the Vikings.

Jarred Smith-Brown and Austin Durglo led the pack with 10 points each. The Vikings jumped out to an early command, leading at halftime 31-20, and outscored the Bulldogs in the remaining quarters, 14-11 and 18-6.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Bulldogs also lost to opponents Florence, 59-32, and Bigfork, 33-17.

Loren Erickson and Bryanna Steele scored 10 each but were outmatched by the Falcons’ duo of Cassandra Skeers and Rosie O’Brien with 12 apiece. Cody Miller also chipped in 11 more in the win.

Against Bigfork, the Lady Bulldogs were without a player in double digits as the Lady Vikings’ Tessa Robertson scored 15. Mission’s Stephanie Lewandowski provided the most points with seven, followed by Erickson and Cecilia Koskela with four each.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-10) and the Bulldogs (1-5, 2-11) play Arlee Feb. 2 and Loyola Sacred Heart Feb. 4.
