LAKE COUNTY — Four suspects believed to have been involved in recent rash of burglaries in Ronan were apprehended by authorities in Washington earlier today, according to Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin.

The suspects were arrested by authorities in an undisclosed part of Washington after they committed a burglary in that state, Yonkin said.

"We believe there is a connection between that incident and the burglary at Westland Seed," Yonkin said.

On Tuesday, would-be thieves used a sledgehammer in an attempt to break the door to Ronan Sports and Western at approximately 4:30 a.m. Store management said the shatter-proof glass door was cracked, but did not break. A little more than an hour later a car stolen from the Ronan airport was driven through the front door of Westland Seed. In eight minutes, a thief stole 8-10 guns, including a .50 caliber high-powered rifle.

Yonkin said the suspects are also likely connected to a recent break-in at the Ronan Airport. On Jan. 16, tools and a Porsche were reported stolen from the airport.

Yonkin did not divulge who the suspects were or where they were apprehended, but said that more details would be available early next week.
