RONAN — Here we are at the end of January and that means that it is time for our birthday dinner. Come in and join us this Friday, Jan. 30, for a wonderful roast beef dinner. Hopefully the band will be here once again to play live music for us.

It’s also time to think about getting our taxes done for last year. The AARP representative will be here on Fridays, beginning on Feb. 7. Give us a call (406) 676-2371 if you want to make an appointment with them. As always, this is a free service offered by AARP, but donations to your local center are always welcome and appreciated.

The card players met here on Jan. 20 with 22 people present. Marie Cowen had the high score, Jim Barnes had the low score, Phil Grant had the most pinochles and Joan Sampson won the door prize. Darlene Salomon and Rose McBurney were the hostesses. The players will meet here again, at 1 p.m., on Feb. 17.

Have you signed the mil-levy petition yet? If not, please do. This funding will help to keep the Council on Aging and the six senior centers in Lake County up and running. Just call you local center or the COA (406) 676-2367, if you want more information.

Since we are starting a new month we are starting a new schedule of activities. Our monthly business meeting is on Monday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. Our Thursday evening meal is at 5 p.m. on Feb.13 and we will serve chicken. Friday, Feb. 14, is our Valentines dinner at noon and we will serve ham. Cards will be played on Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. and the foot clinic is at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb.19. February’s birthday dinner is at noon on the 28th.

Our meals are $4 for those over 60 years old and $5 for those under 60. We serve at noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and at 5 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month and the cost of this meal is $5. You do not have to be a senior to join us for our meals and other activities.

Our menu for the rest of January and the first week of February: Wednesday, Jan. 29: baked potato bar, Fri.(31st) is roast beef,

Monday, Feb. 3: taco soup

Wednesday, Feb. 5: pork chops

Friday, Feb. 7: salad bar

We have not had enough bingo players, but are still having painting/crafts on Wednesdays and movies on Mondays. The pool table is always ready for use and there is always a jigsaw puzzle to put together. So, come on in and join us for some great food and fellowship. You can even stay awhile and join in our activities. We also have a lending library where you can borrow or trade books.

Have a great week and be very careful on the ice.
