POLSON — Mission Valley Power is testing a new application called Smart Hub. MVP employees are testing the app and have been encouraged to download Smart Hub on their smart phones and play with it.

“It will, of course, allow you to pay your bill right through your phone,” said Dalene Gardipe, MVP customer service manager.

Customers may view their actual bill, get a snapshot of two years of their account and check average temperatures. For billing questions, a little drop-down menu appears. The questions pop up on screens at the MVP office. The app is available for all electronic ways of talking to MVP, such as tablets, etc.

The app will also allow customers to monitor the efficiency of a new appliance.

“If you buy a brand new energy efficient refrigerator, you can put a marker on the date of installation,” Gardipe said, “and compare electricity use to last year at the same time.”

Gardipe personally likes the graphs and comparisons from previous years.

“We all think the app is pretty dang cool,” Gardipe said.

MVP will debut the app in February, according to Gardipe.
