RONAN — Someone went to great lengths to bring a Christian message to Ronan, St. Ignatius and Charlo last week.
Approximately 5,000 copies of “The Great Controversy,” a 377-page religiously-themed book by E.G. White, were deposited in the mailboxes of townspeople on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
The appearance of the book left many townspeople scratching their heads, wondering if the volume had been mailed to the wrong address, or if they owed postage for it. This wasn’t the case.
An anonymous donor paid Michigan-based Remnant Publications so the books could be distributed, according to employee Debi Tesser. The non-denominational ministry runs a printing press that distributes religious texts and Bibles around the world.
“Sometimes it’s one person and sometimes it’s a whole church that make a donation for that community because they love the message so much and love the people,” Tesser said.
The powerful words inside “The Great Controversy” have moved many people to make donations so the book can be widely distributed, she said.
“We put out books all over the world, by the millions,” Tesser said.
“Around Easter in 2013, we covered Manhattan with a million of these books. In the fall, we distributed this book within the boundary of Washington, D.C.”
The company accepts donations of any size. More information about the program is available by calling 800-423-1319.
