POLSON — Like the rains of Ranchipur, the snow keeps coming. Enough already. “Basta,” cry the Italians. Make it stop.

Happy are the skiers and contract snow-plowers. The shovelers and drivers, not so much. Oh well, we’re hearty Montanans; we’ll work our way through it. Think spring.

Our senior “keglers” keep coming up with noteworthy scores. On Jan. 14, Jim Funke rolled a 277 game with a 718 series. On Jan. 21, Don Young threw a 256 game but, once again, Jim Funke had the high series with 724. Admittedly, it is a 9 pin no-tap form of bowling but no less impressive. Last week’s high scorers were Keith Ross with 245, Larry Alter with 236, Roger Rasmussen with 230, Don Young with 229, Walter Reznicek with 228, Jim Funke with 214, Bob Elsberry with 211, Jack Adamson with 208, and Cris Alter with 208. Larry Alter had high series with a 689. Nice bowling, seniors.

There are only four regular bridge players at this time and the pinochle players have taken a time out. The winner at bridge depends on who has the extra cards up his/her sleeve on any particular day.

The toenail clinic will be here on Feb. 12 from 10:30-noon and the veterans’ representative will be here the same day from 1-3 p.m.

New feature: Trivia quiz contest. Each week will be a quiz. Correct answers will go into a drawing in February for a free meal.

Quiz: The meaning/translation of mene, mene, tekel, upharsin.
