POLSON — Southern Comfort Band headlines Polson’s 4th annual Winter Fest on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Mission Valley Elks Club ballroom, beginning at 5 p.m.
“Help Us Help Others” is the theme for this year’s event. Admission is $9, which includes a sliced pork dinner prepared by Guy at the Old World Deli. Dessert will honor Washington’s Birthday, with a cherry/chocolate theme. Children younger than 12 may attend free of charge. A silent auction and 50/50 drawing are also on tap. Donation items for the auction are greatly appreciated. Proceeds from this yearly fundraiser will benefit programs in the community that aid homeless and hungry neighbors, including a transitional housing project, a neighbors-in-need program and Soup’s On, a free food program.
Soup’s On provides a free meal weekly, Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Soup’s On and the Family Table have served over 40,000 meals since its inception, and the Wander Inn also provides more than 300 shelter days per year.
The Family Table hosts a free dinner on the fourth Friday of every month. All of these meals are served at the Wander Inn, 101 Seventh Ave. W., Polson, located just across from Dempsey’s Pawn Shop. The meal is always free, and all are welcome.
These programs will be hosting an open house on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon from 5 to 7 p.m., Feb.19 and 20 at the Wander Inn, on Seventh Ave. W.
To remind everyone of the grave affordable housing crisis in Polson, a tipi will stand at the entrance.
