News from Journey Be

POLSON — A new band is coming to town for the Journey Be fundraiser to benefit hunger projects. Blue Smoke Band featuring Robin Gough will be one of two dance bands featured at Polson’s 4th annual Winter Fest, Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Elks Club Ball Room. Also on tap is Southern Comfort Band. Activities will begin at 5 p.m. Proceeds will benefit programs in your community that aid our homeless and hungry neighbors. A transitional housing project, a “neighbors in need” program and the free food program, “Soup’s On,” all rely on this yearly fundraiser to support their efforts.

Admission is only $9, which includes a superb sliced pork dinner prepared by Guy at the Old World Deli. Dessert will honor Washington’s Birthday, with a cherry/chocolate theme. Children under 12 are free. A silent auction and 50/50 drawing are also on tap. Donation items for the auction are greatly appreciated. Please join the fun at this 4th annual gala event. For more information, call the Wander Inn between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at (406) 883-5160, or call (406) 871-1109.

The Wander Inn is the host of several projects that address hunger. Soup’s On provides a free meal weekly, Monday throught Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Family Table hosts a free dinner on the fourth Friday of every month. All of these meals are served at the Wander Inn, 101 7th Ave West, Polson. The meal is always free and all are welcome. These programs will be hosting an open house on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon from 5 to 7 p.m., Feb. 19 and 20.  The Wander Inn is located just across from Dempsey’s Pawn Shop on 7th Ave West. Please join us for an evening of food, bingo, and line dancing. Take this opportunity to learn who is behind this valuable service in your community. A tipi will stand before the entrance to remind us of the grave affordable housing crisis that exists in our community. Please be part of the housing solution by supporting efforts to bring housing alternatives here for our neighbors that find themselves in transition.

Soup’s On and the Family Table have served more than 40,000 meals since its inception. The Wander Inn also provides more than 300 shelter days per year. “Help Us Help Others” is the theme for this year’s event.
