RONAN — Beautiful quilts drew visitors to the 2011 Mission Mountain Quilt Guild Quilt Show at the Lake County Fair July 29 and 30 while electric fans and homemade cookies made their stay more pleasant. Held in the Ronan High School gym, the show boasted 146 quilts for viewing as well as 24 quilts from featured quilter Ayleen Bain, according to chair Sylvia Moody.

The theme of the show was “Barn Dance at the County Fair.” Moody said attendance was good with 219 viewers the first day and 110 the second day. Usually the quilt show is three days, but Moody said she talked guild members into a two-day show.

Sew and So Club members were also at the show to visit with quilting enthusiasts and share some of their club’s 100-year history. Visitors could also shop at the country store set up with items for sale, and several vendors displayed fabric and sewing machines. One vendor from Idaho demonstrated different techniques.

To fundraise, the MMQG raffled a quilt and a basket of fat quarters. Peggy Milner, Polson, won the quilt, and Landra Chambers, Sioux City, S.D., took home the fat quarter basket.
