POLSON — Polson High School choir, under the direction of Dawn Matt, joins internationally renowned composer/producer Tim Janis for his 5th annual “Celebrate America Across Montana” PBS Special. The Polson choir chose to sing the official theme song for the U.S. Honor Flag, Tim Janis’ “Celebrate America.” The melodious program was created by Tim Janis to spotlight our nations youth, bring awareness to the importance of music education and pull communities together in an uplifting and inspiring celebration of music.

Tim Janis’ Celebrate America airs on Monday, March 3 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on KUSM-Montana PBS. It streams online at the same time, so it can be seen by friends and family outside of Montana.

The show repeats Monday at 8:30 p.m.; Wednesday, March 5, at 3 a.m. and Thursday, March 6, at 12:30 p.m. The show will not repeat online.

During the broadcast, the choir that inspires the most new or renewed PBS memberships or pledges to PBS will receive a Hal Leonard Music coupon that may be redeemed for sheet music for its school at no cost. DVDs and CDs of the broadcast will be available as pledge gifts during the broadcast.

Celebrate America was taped on Jan. 20 at the KUSM-Montana PBS studio in Bozeman with students from Frenchtown, Belgrade, Mount Ellis Academy, Heritage Christian, Hamilton, Polson, Corvallis, Florence-Carlton, Anaconda and Billings Skyview.

“I think the exciting part is when you realize that this is a new opportunity for these young people to be in a television studio and to have this opportunity. That really makes me happy and I am so glad that Montana PBS does that for their community,” Janis said.

Janis’ non-profit Music of Hope has a strong focus on keeping music in schools and heightening public awareness of its benefits.
