Polson Senior Center news for week of March 6

I just had to comment on our fine weather, didn’t I? I remember now the last time I thought spring was surely just around the corner the weather turned on us like a rogue rat. What can I say? If I were a meteorologist, do you think I’d be writing a column?

But the mountains look splendid.

Menu for the week beginning Thursday, March 6:

•  Thursday, March 6: beef stroganoff w/noodles

•  Friday, March 7: cheeseburgers and potato patties

•  Monday, March 10: taco soup

•  Tuesday, March 11: steak and gravy w/noodles

•  Wednesday, March 12: meatloaf w/whipped potatoes

Our tax preparers are in Polson on Mondays and Thursdays. Call for an appointment.

The AARP driving classes will resume on April 22 after Clara returns from Arizona sporting a nice tan.

The toenail clinic will be on March 12 from 10:30 a.m.-noon. First come, first served. Thank you to Jane Bronson for doing that.

We transport our aluminum cans to Missoula occasionally and would appreciate the use of someone’s cargo trailer or small horse trailer. Please call the senior center if you can help.

The veterans’ representative will be here on the same day, March 12 from 1-3pm.

Every Friday night we have bingo beginning at 7 p.m. Come join the fun.

Our exercise group meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday’s bridge honors went to Bob Gorsuch with Dee Adams placing second.

The high scratch series scores for Tuesday afternoon senior bowling league are: Cris Alter 785 and Larry Alter 759 and for high handicap series are: Jim Funke 759 and Jack Adamson 705 and for high games: Cris Alter 300; (perfect game, congrats); Jim Funke  263; Larry Alter 253; Jack Adamson 247; Don Young 243; Ray Theiler 235; Walter Reznicek 218; and Keith Ross 217.

Due to an apparent lack of interest I will discontinue the weekly trivia quiz. However, Shirley Laisy did come up with the only answer to the polar bear question and, therefore, earns a free lunch.
