RONAN — I’m looking at the picture on my office calendar, and it has a lot in common with what I see when I look out the window — water, and a lot of it. Hopefully by the time this newspaper comes out, the ground will have dried out. The water, however, sure beats the snow and ice.

This Thursday, March 13 is our evening meal at 5 p.m. This month we will serve pork roast and the cost is only $5 per person.

Senior commodities will be out on Tuesday, March 18. They will be available after 2:30 p.m. Please pick them up as soon as possible.

As we all know, Monday, March 17, is St. Patrick’s Day and we will serve corned beef and cabbage that day.

Cards will be played here, at 1 p.m., on March 17, and the foot clinic will be here on Wednesday, March 19, from 10 a.m. until noon. Please call, (406) 676-2371 and we will get your name on the list for the foot clinic.

On Wednesday, March 19, we will have a special chicken dinner to encourage new people to come to the center for a meal or to return after not being here for a while. We will have special prizes and a 50/50 cash drawing. So, come on in and join us, and bring a friend.

The Lake County Council on Aging is once again having their “Lady’s Luncheon” to celebrate Mother’s Day. It will be on Saturday, March 10 of May, and the cost is $10. Call the COA (406) 676-2367 to reserve your tickets, as they must be bought in advance so they know how much food is needed. This helps to keep the cost down.

Now that the snow is receding, we are once again taking in aluminum cans to recycle. If you have any to donate, please drop them off at the north side of the building. This is a fundraiser shared by the COA and the senior center to help defray the cost of keeping programs open.

The mil levy for the funding of all of the senior centers and the LCCOA will be on the ballot in June. We ask that you vote for this levy because senior centers and the COA need the funding it will provide. If you are not registered to vote, please do so now.

Our menu is as follows:

•  Wednesday, March 12: enchiladas

•  Thursday, March 13: pork roast

•  Friday, March 14: fish

•  Monday, March 17: corned beef and cabbage

•  Wednesday, March 19: chicken

•  Friday, March 21: soup and sandwiches

Come on in and join us at your local center for a great meal and fellowship. You might be surprised at the number of people there you already know. And yes, no matter how “young” you are, you are old enough to go to the senior center.

Have a great week and wdon’
