POLSON — Two men were injured in an alleged attack by Polson resident Desmond Mackay, 35, on March 5. Mackay allegedly assaulted the two men with a hammer at approximately 7:15 p.m. in the alley behind 509 Fourth Street.
One of the victims, a 67-year-old man, was unresponsive when Polson Police officers arrived and was transported to Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center before being flown to Kalispell Regional Medical Center for emergency surgery. As of Monday, he remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit, according to Polson Assistant Chief Clint Cottle.
The second victim, a 36-year-old Polson man who sustained minor injuries, held Mackay down until police arrived.
