POLSON — It’s election season, and the filing deadline has passed.

The primary election on June 3 will decide some positions, such as the Lake County Sheriff’s race, because all four candidates are Republican. Donald Bell, Kim Leibenguth, Rick Schoening and Dan Yonkin are running for the job, left open when Sheriff Jay Doyle did not file.

Incumbent Bill Barron faces Rory Horning for a Lake County Commissioner slot.

Statewide, since long-time Senator Max Baucus resigned to become the United States Ambassador to China, the list of people who’d like his senate seat is long. The race for Montana’s lone U.S. House of Representatives seat is also full, with eight candidates.
