POLSON – The Lady Pirates picked up their first two wins of the season on Saturday behind some crafty pitching from the circle and key hits from their lineup.

Senior Jessica Bagnell had some big shoes to fill in the circle while the Duford legacy still lingered, but she proved she has what it takes to lead her team to victory. Bagnell struck out 13 in two complete games and only allowed one walk. Bagnell also produced at the plate, going 4-7 for the day with a triple.

In game one the Lady Pirates faced Butte Central and picked up their first win of the season, 6-1. Bagnell struck out seven from the circle and collected three hits from the box. Kyrie Bitterman and Hannah Potter were each 2-2 with Bitterman adding a long hit triple.

Game two the Lady Pirates dominated Anaconda 9-1. Jaiden Toth went 3-4 and Jaylin Kenney 2-3, both coming away with three RBIs apiece for the Lady Pirates. Bagnell stood tall in the circle throwing six K’s and allowing no runs in her seven innings of work.

The Lady Pirates will take their game to the road April 5, taking on Corvallis and Hamilton. April 8 they will head to Columbia Falls.
