News from the Philanthropic Education Organization

POLSON — Several generations connected over tea and cookies at the 5th annual Tea Party on March 27, organized by Polson Middle School teachers, P.E.O. chapters BY and CA members and St. Joseph Assisted Living Center employees.

Teachers gathered the girls, provided a short list of questions to spur conversation between the girls and center residents, and accompanied the 36 students across the field from the school to the center.

P.E.O. members provided teapots, dozens of cookies and hats for everyone. The center also provided tea and teapots.

Middle school librarian LouAnne Krantz gave a short description of PEO, and how the organization works to help women reach their educational goals.

Each table included one or two center residents and two or three eighth graders while the P.E.O. members served tea and cookies. Students used the list of questions to learn more about their senior tablemates. After a time the students took turns standing to introduce the center resident or residents at their table, and shared some of what they have learned about them.

Conversation, laughter and moments of “you did that?” from the younger set filled the room at the senior residential center, making the hour a fun and enlightening experience.
