Deborah Jo Fouty

POLSON — Deborah Jo Fouty passed away of natural causes from complications due to diabetes, on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Polson. She was born Oct. 5, 1957, in Missoula.

Debbie graduated from Polson High School. She married Steve Statham in August 1982 and they moved to Everett, Wash. where she worked for ELDEC Corporation as a purchasing agent. They had two children, Kristen and Steven. Debbie returned home to Polson in 1998 following the end of the marriage. She went to work for Salish Kootenai College in enrollment records. Debbie loved working at the college and for the tribal community. 

Debbie loved life. She loved skiing, family times, boating, being with the extended family at Blue Bay, She was funny and smart and kind, always up for fun. She was a great friend to many and had many good friends. Debbie was a hoot to be around and someone people gravitated towards for all of these reasons. 

She loved tribal art, especially dream catchers and always had a large collection in her home throughout the years.

She loved her children above all else and was incredibly proud of them and their accomplishments. She was close to her brothers, Bob and Walt and sister-in-law Joan and their children, her nieces and nephews. 

Debbie had a twin brother, David, who died in a motorcycle accident at the early age of 18. Her parents Walt and Jo Fouty, her older sister Jane and niece Asia, also preceded her in death. 

She is survived by her children Kristen (John) Foraker and Steven Statham; her brothers Bob and Walt (Joan) Fouty; nieces Anne (Stefan) Bernula and Strohm Fouty; nephews Mike (Kim), Steve Fouty, and Roth (Mandy) Fouty; great-niece Azlyn Fouty; great-nephews Ty, Trae, Drew, Noah and Mason Fouty and grandchildren Jordan, Alyson, Amber and Ayden Foraker.

Debbie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The Rosary will be held Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at Grogan Funeral Home and services will be held at 10 a.m. the following morning Saturday, April 12, at Grogan Funeral Home in Polson. A reception will follow at the Polson Indian Senior Citizens Center. 

The family recommends in lieu of flowers, any donations be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory. Messages of condolence may be shared with the family online at: www.groganfuneralhome.com.
