News from Envision Polson Beautification Committee

POLSON — Polson’s community-wide annual spring Clean Up! Green Up! day is set for Friday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Headquarters will be located in the Polson library community room at 2 First Avenue East where volunteers may come to designate areas where they want to work or to be assigned areas that need cleaning up.

Lightweight gloves, garbage bags, orange plastic vests, pointed pick-up sticks, bottled water, hot coffee and cookies will be available at Clean Up! Green Up! headquarters.

Allied Waste is providing a large dumpster to collect trash from vacant lots and public roadways. It will be located on First Avenue diagonally across from the library.

Clean Up! Green Up! is being held on Friday to encourage business owners to allow employees who wish to participate a little time off from work to help out. Students in local schools are participating under the direction of teachers or community service club directors.

Clean Up! Green Up! headquarters is also the place where volunteers may add their names to a drawing for four $25 gift certificates for local businesses Espress Yo Self, Mission View Greenhouse, McDonald’s and Vinny’s. The drawing for the winners will be held at Glacier Brewery beginning at 5 p.m., where adult volunteers are invited to a no-host gathering to celebrate a job well done with a cool brew.

Clean Up! Green Up! is being organized by the Beautification Committee of Envision Polson.

“Trash-free roadsides and vacant lots speak volumes about community pride and are fundamental to a town’s beauty and attractiveness,” Committee Chairman Mary Jensen said. “We hope everyone will help out so that Polson can look its very best for our summer visitors.”

The City of Polson will pick up bagged leaves and pruned branches left at the curbside on Friday, May 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Electronic waste recycling will be held Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lake County Transfer Station.
