Lady Pirates break Loyola Sacred Heart

POLSON – While battling a wet week on the diamond, the Lady Pirates claimed a couple of victories and battled through a tough loss.
On Thursday the Lady Pirates hosted Libby. After a shaky first inning, Polson gained momentum and secured a conference 8-2 win over the Lady Loggers. Pitcher Jessica Bagnell picked up the win from the circle, striking out eight. Bagnell also owned the plate going 4-4 with a triple and a pair of RBIs. Kaelen Wall added two runs to the scorecard going 2-4 for the day.
Friday and Saturday brought the Lady Pirates to compete at the Frenchtown Invitational. Polson picked up a split, dropping one to Hamilton on Friday and returning with fury to dominate Loyola-Sacred Heart.
In game one against Hamilton the Lady Pirates played back and forth ball against the Lady Broncs, but in the end fell 9-12. Jaiden Toth and Jaylin Kenney each landed on second with a couple of doubles and Kyrie Bitterman led in RBIs with two.
Saturday showed the Lady Pirates would not let an earlier defeat throw them off as they claimed victory over Loyola-Sacred Heart, 18-1. While taking advantage of Loyola’s fielding errors, the Lady Pirates scored runs in all four innings, tallying 10 in the third, only to stop the Lady Breakers’ bleeding when the game was ended due to the 10-run rule. Bagnell and Hannah Potter both hit back-to-back homeruns in the first inning.
The Lady Pirates will host Frenchtown May 2.
