POLSON — On April 21, Luis Mateo Denobrega, 24, Spokane, was sentenced by Judge Deborah Kim Christopher to Montana State Prison for 30 years with 15 suspended. He had been charged with six felony counts of assault plus felony criminal endangerment.

On Dec. 7, 2013, Denobrega purposely fired a shotgun into a residence on Leaning Tree Lane in Pablo, knowing that there were people inside the residence. Five adults, a small child and a newborn infant were in the home at the time of the shooting.

Officers attempted to locate Denobrega that night but could not find him. An attempt to locate was broadcast, with information that Denobrega also had warrant for his arrest out of Washington State.

On Tuesday, Dec. 11, Denobrega was apprehended after a vehicle pursuit that began on Highway 93 at Ravalli Hill and ended at the intersection of North Crow Road and North Foothills Drive in Ronan where Denobrega drove into a snowy ditch. During the pursuit, Denobrega nearly collided head-on with at least a dozen vehicles, almost hitting Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Terry Rosenbaum.

Denobrega later admitted firing four to five rounds into a home with a 12-gauge shotgun. He also said he had shot the wrong house and that he used methamphetamine every day and was “higher than s--- that day.” Denbrega admitted being a gang member of the Bloods called the Native Lynch Mob.
