POLSON — For the first time in quite a while, Polson High School thespians will stage a play in the PHS auditorium. Two performances of “Suitable for Hanging” are set for May 9 and 10 with a 6:30 p.m. curtain time.

“Suitable for Hanging” is set in 1971 and written by Donald Payton, according to Katie Rehberg, who is directing the play.

The story revolves around Charlie Hackel, who is getting married on Friday. Hackel wakes up on Saturday, and he has no idea where he is or why weird things are happening. A dead body in the closet, a blonde wandering around his apartment, mad scientists, a Russian spy, a private detective and a brunette ballerina add to the story.

“It’s a mystery that has to be solved,” Tegan Bauer said. Bauer plays Mom Hackel, Charlie’s mother.

Natalie Slonaker, the costume designer, said it’s been a challenge finding ‘70s clothing. In the mysterious tunnel beneath the stage, she did find a bucket of size 5 shoes, however.

Tickets prices are $5 for students, and $6 for general admission.
