ST. IGNATIUS — On Monday one Lake County teen remained hospitalized and another in jail, after St. Ignatius, tribal, and county authorities responded to a stabbing that was reported early Saturday morning.

According to St. Ignatius Police Chief Jeffrey Ferguson, a female called 911 at 1:23 a.m. Saturday and told dispatchers that she was transporting a 17-year-old male to St. Luke’s Hospital because he had been stabbed. The teen was taken by helicopter to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, where he was treated for multiple stab wounds to the back and head.

As of Monday afternoon the victim was stable and recovering at the hospital.

“I plan to head down there and interview him today,” Ferguson said.

A 14-year-old male was detained after officers investigated at the Third Avenue residence where the incident occurred, Ferguson said.

The teen remained in Lake County Jail but had not been charged as of press time.
